‘SUN’: Ultra-High-Def Timelapse of the Sun’s Atmosphere Captured between 2011 and 2015 [VIDEO]

We can finally travel to the surface of the sun, through videos like this, of course. “SUN” is a video comprised of ultra-high-definition timelapse footage of the sun’s atmosphere captured by the Solar Dynamics Observatory spacecraft between 2011 and 2015.

The video, edited by Michael König, captures spectacular solar activity like flares, prominence dances, filament launches into the atmosphere, plasma eruptions, coronal rain, lunar and planetary transits, and more. (Wouldn’t those phrases make great tattoos?) This is one of the coolest and clearest videos of the sun we’ve seen, one you won’t want to miss!
