‘Pixel’: Dancers Leap and Twirl With Lights in a Breakthrough Multimedia Show [VIDEO]

In the digital age, technology infiltrates every part of our lives, including cultural productions like music and dance. Now French performance artists Adrien Mondot and Claire Bardainne, known together as the Adrien M / Claire B Company, in collaboration with hip-hop choregrapher Cie Kafig, have come up with a new and innovative multimedia dance.

The hour-long performance entitled “Pixel” uses digital projection mapping techniques that turn irregularly shaped objects into a display surface to enhance the show, allowing the 11-member troupe to interact with the lights in absolutely mesmerizing ways. The dance premiered in November 2014 at Maison des Arts de Créteil in France.

On the video’s Vimeo page, the creators describe “Pixal” as:

A work on illusion combining energy and poetry, fiction and technical achievement, hip hop and circus.
