Even Owls Go Swimming Every Now and Then [VIDEO]

Thanks to photographer and bird watcher Steve Spitzer, you can see what an owl looks like when it dives into the deep end. After being attacked by two falcons, this great-horned owl took to the waters of Lake Michigan for safety. Spitzer rushed to the owl’s aid, but the owl was more than fine, and much to Spitzer’s surprise, he actually began swimming.

The entire encounter is rather strange. For starters, owls are nocturnal, so seeing one being chased by falcons in daylight is rare. Owls are also land birds. Even stranger is that the owl began swimming like a human, with a beautifully executed and graceful breast stroke.
