11 Years in the Making: a Timelapse Showing the Construction of One World Trade Center From Start to Finish [VIDEO]

It took nearly 11 years, but construction of New York City’s One World Trade Center is finally finished. October 2004 marked the beginning of this 94-story skyscraper, and from there, construction continued for more than a decade. On Memorial Day, May 29, 2015, the observation deck at the top of One World Trade Center officially opened, and with that the project was complete.

To celebrate the building’s grand opening, EarthCam released a timelapse video showcasing its construction, from start to finish. Watching 11 years of steady progress in such a short video makes you realize how truly monumental this project is.

On the video’s YouTube page, EarthCam writes:

In recognition of the opening of One World Observatory, we have released a special edition of our One World Trade Center video…showing the completion of construction from October 2004 to Memorial Day 2015. Hundreds of thousands of high definition images were captured over the past 11 years and hand-edited for this exclusive timelapse movie.
