The Hills Are Alive with the Sound of Lady Gaga: Singer’s ‘Sound of Music’ Oscar Performance Wows [VIDEO]

Lady Gaga, known for being eccentric and wild, showed a softer side at this year’s Academy Awards. For the 50th anniversary of The Sound of Music, Gaga paid tribute to the iconic film by beautifully singing a medley of its songs: “The Sound of Music,” “My Favorite Things,” “Edelweiss” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”

For the performance that stole the show, Gaga left behind her elaborate costumes, theatrics, and dance music. She wore a gorgeous white gown that matched her gorgeous vocals. And while her dress showed off her tattoos, her big personality did nothing to eclipse the music itself. Her performance was entirely about The Sound of Music, which was fitting because the movie cleaned up at the Oscars in 1966 when it was nominated for ten and won five awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Music.
