Shake It Off: Adoptable Pups Shake Non-Toxic Paint from Their Fur To Create Unique Drip Artwork

This is one of the more creative ways to raise awareness and support for the adoption of shelter animals. The project is called Canismo and features adoptable dogs shaking non-toxic paint from their fur to create pieces of art.

The Canismo website explains the project:

Canismo is an artistic movement created by a group of dogs that aims to help with the support and adoption of sheltered animals. The shake of the paint reveals a remarkable exercise of freedom, where each drop of ink bears the stain of prejudice. The combination of different colours in the paintings shows the mixture of breeds, as random and as beautiful as each mongrel dog.

The 18 unique paintings created by the pups “artists” will be shown at an exhibition at Perestroika São Paulo, Brazil, on May 9, 2015, where they will be available for purchase. Proceeds will go to Procure1Amigo, an animal rescue organization in São Paulo, and to animal adoption in general.

You can also adopt one of the artists or make a donation to support the animals while they await their furrr-ever homes!
