‘Women In Science’: Whimsical Illustrations Celebrate Females Who Made History

Some people feel like they can pursue either science or art. But, in reality, you can figure out a way to do both. Kansas City-based illustrator and designer Rachel Ignotofsky combines her love of science and love of art in her series of illustrations that pay tribute to females who made history in the field of science.

Her “Women In Science” illustrations are an ongoing project to pay tribute to 50 different women including Marie Curie, Jane Goodall and Rosalind Franklin.

Ignotofsky tells Instagram:

A lot of these women are not very well known, even though their accomplishments have changed our world forever. I want my illustrations to help spark an interest in learning more about these women. I want young girls and boys to see that no matter who they are, despite their gender, they can accomplish anything.

Ignotofsky uploads her illustrations to Instagram, but they’re also available for purchase on Etsy.
