Tilt-Shift Photographs of Mountains Make Them Look like Miniature Toy Landscapes
It’s magical what camera and photo effects can do to an image. By blurring out parts of a photo, for instance, you can take a grand sweeping landscape and make it look toy-sized. Photographer Alex Robciuc uses this tilt-shift effect to do just that, to make his incredible, scenic landscape photographs of Transylvanian towns scattered in the mountains look miniature.
To capture his photos, Robciuc embarks on morning and evening journeys to take advantage of the region’s dynamic lighting and striking serenity. He tells Bored Panda:
Waking up at 5 AM, searching for a view-point, waiting for the perfect light and finding an outstanding element in the landscape around me – that’s my perfect recipe for transposing my feelings and my mood into a simple photo.
Once he has the perfect shot, Robciuc applies a tilt-shift effect to certain parts of the image, often the background and foreground. Blurring out these sections not only draws the eye to a central point or subject, but also makes the image appear as a delicate, miniature scene.
These photographs, among many others, are featured on Robciuc’s Facebook and 500px pages as well as on his website.
