If we were to imagine social networks as human beings, what would they look like? Los Angeles-based photographer Viktorija Pashuta takes a stab at answering this in a new project called “What If Guys Were Social Networks?”
The project involves a concept fashion photo shoot that portrays different social networks as men. Pashuta designs the men from head to toe, imagining what clothing, haircut, posture and stance each would possess based on the “spirit” of a corresponding social network: Pinterest is depicted as creative, Instagram as vintage, Facebook as casual, Twitter as classic, LinkedIn as business, Flickr as artsy, Tumblr as hip and Google+ as innovative.
On her blog and Facebook page, Pashuta writes that in this day and age we feel the “direct presence” of social media. She goes on:
While socializing…the actual online platforms sort of became ‘alive.’ And then I thought what would happen if I tried to humanize well-known social networks. The idea was not only to use the social media logos as a visual reference, but to transfer their qualities and usability functions into human character portrayed through fashion.
