‘The Average Faces of Rock’: Composite Portraits of 30 Bands That Combine All the Members Into One Image

The lead singer of a band is usually the “face” of that group. But what if the “face” were actually a composite of all the band members’ portraits?

Men’s shaving company West Coast Shaving created a poster-like image called The Average Faces of Rock that does just that for 30 rock bands including the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, Queen, AC/DC, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns N’ Roses, and Green Day.

The results are certainly interesting. Some composites look very much like the band members – you can, for example, recognize the new “face” of the Beatles. But other composites, like Smashing Pumpkins, definitely look off. (In the case of Smashing Pumpkins, the new “face” resembles a cyborg.) Check them all out, and see what your favorite band looks like when all its members are combined into one photo!
