Lonely Houses: Minimalist Photographs of Charming Solitary Houses in Portugal
One is the loneliest number, even for houses. But is lonely always the worst thing? To visual artist and photographer Sejkko, the answer is no. His proof: a minimalist photo series of cute and endearing solitary houses around Portugal.
Although the houses in the photos are alone, with nothing but the sky as a backdrop, the images don’t necessarily feel lonely. Rather, they have a whimsical charm; they are not intimidating buildings but quaint and somewhat welcoming.
Sejkko explains to Bored Panda:
My ‘lonely houses’ often have the vibrancy of the place where I grew up, but they may confuse the viewer. Sometimes they may feel lost, and out of place. Some other times, they have a sense of self-containment, and of human warmth inside… I am also documenting their own personalities, in the geographical and cultural context where they exist.
