#DesignerLies: 20 Funny Little Lies That Designers Tell Their Clients
All designers – all people, really – have to tell little lies every now and then. Creative Market, a website for independent creatives, has made a humorous but truthful series of colorful posters called “20 Lies Designers Tell Their Clients.”
Each poster features the lie on top, the truth behind that lie on the bottom. Some are rather harmless: “I like to give my clients options, here are three” translates to “I couldn’t decide what font to use,” and “we’re an internationally recognized firm” is really “we had one client who lived in Canada.”
Others, however, might be covering up some larger slack or disgruntlement: “I’m uploading the finished design right now” is actually “I’m way late and rushing to finish this as we speak.” And “I’m swamped and not taking on extra projects right now” really means “you’re a terrible client and I just can’t handle you this week.”
On the series’s page, Creative Market writes:
Some clients are amazing, others, not so much. No matter who your clients are though, I’m willing to bet you’ve told a few little white lies to them over the years. Nothing big, just a harmless little fib here and there.
