Don’t Judge Food by Its Packaging: Junk Food Reimagined with Gourmet Package Designs

Gourmet on the outside, junk on the inside.

Buzzfeed cartoonist Dan Meth has created a humorous series of artisan package designs for our favorite, guilty-pleasure junk foods, elevating them to gourmet status. At least on the outside, that is. (One tagline reads,”New look, Same gross taste.”)

The series, “When The Artisanal Food Trend Has Gone Too Far,” features seven re-branded junk foods. For example, Captain Crunch cereal gets a fetching new box adorned with an elegant ship illustration. Slim Jims become a little more proper when renamed “Slim James” and placed in cigar-like boxes. And Fruit By The Foot is repackaged into fancy round containers labeled with its name translated into French: Fruit par la Metre. So gourmet.
 
Moral of the story: don’t judge food by its package.
