Delightful Disgust: Designs that Reimagine What We Eat as Useful Objects

Is that a hot dog or a microphone? Developer and designer Matija Ercea of Serious Designs calls the clever creation a “hot mic.” The design is one of several that reimagine food as objects we often use or see in our everyday lives.

Ercea, who lives in Vancouver, Canada, began creating his food-item hybrid designs when he saw a picture of flip-flops with steaks for soles. Thus, Serious Designs came to fruition, as Ercea tells Instagram:

I imagined what it would be like to wear them. I wanted to evoke the same reaction of delightful disgust in other people, so I set off on a mission to pair food and everyday objects into ‘serious designs.’

Ercea uses Photoshop to design these clever creations. You can find banana guns, meat sunglasses, lettuce wigs, pizza skateboards, cheesy iPods and more. Which one is your favorite hybrid?
