What’s the Difference between Living in New York City and San Francisco?

New York City and San Francisco are not only on opposite sides US coasts, but couldn’t be more different in terms of lifestyle and culture. At least according to writer, comedian and blogger Sarah Cooper of The Cooper Review. She created a simple series of humorous illustrations called “The Difference Between Living in New York and San Francisco,” based on her experience moving to San Francisco after five years in New York City.

Although different, these two cities are loved by their respective denizens. Just consider their nicknames: The City that Never Sleeps and Empire City for New York, and The Golden City and Paris of the West for San Francisco. Interestingly, both NYC and San Fran have been dubbed “The city” by those living in and near them, as if to say, “Where else?”

But just because they share this nickname, does not mean they share many other qualities, as illustrated by Cooper. Both cities have their advantages, but Cooper seems to favor San Francisco’s clean streets, perfect weather, thrift-store fashion, better apartments for the money (both cities are expensive), and laid-back lifestyle.

Which city would you rather live in?
